FORMER HORNETS MAKE HISTORY-sponsored by Nissan of Muskogee

Two former Hilldale Hornets became the first players in Hilldale’s history to sign up with National Football League teams signing as free agents at the conclusion of this year’s National football League draft.

Devin Brandt, class of 2020, signed as an unrestricted free agent defensive tackle with the Buffalo Bills. After his career as a Hornet, he went to NEO for a spring before going to Old Dominion for three seasons and finishing at New Mexico. Hornet coach David Blevins came to Hilldale in the spring of Brandt’s senior season and remembers him.

“He was a guy you could tell had a future ahead of him. He went to NEO during the Covid season before advancing on Old Dominion and New Mexico,” said Blevins.

Devin Hembry, class of 2019, signed as an unrestricted free agent cornerback with the Kansas City Chiefs. After a stellar career at Hilldale, Hembry played at NEO before going to North Dakota for the rest of his college career.
