Hilldale boys’ soccer coach Conner Schwab has built a strong program over the years he’s been with the Hornets, which have resulted in playoff appearances the last five years including two trips to the state championship game in the past three years. But the 2026 season may be a strong test of that winning culture as the Hornets will have to replace 14 seniors that helped propel them to that success.
“We’ve created a winning program and culture and so even though we lost some talented seniors, our expectation is that our youngsters who have grown up with this culture will continue that winning tradition as they move into starting roles this year,” said Schwab.
Senior defensive back Grant Brust will be one of the main cogs for the Hornets this year.
“Grant is a four-year starter for us and has led us defensively as well as his club team TSC in Tulsa. He brings years of experience and composure to our team and I’m excited to see how his senior season goes,” said Schwab.
Another bright spot for the Hornets will be sophomore Cael Chartney who was voted a co-captain this year and will run the midfield for Hilldale. His brother Bryce will also return at some point as he rehabs from a football injury. Senior Liam Sargent will start his fourth season for the Hornets and can play a variety of positions. Sophomore Kyce Jimenez will be an exciting young talent according to the Hornet head coach and Aidyn Lindquist will return to the soccer program after sitting out his junior year. Guys like Mateo Serafin and Andy Prill will be among those that have played in the shadows of the departed senior group and will now have their chance to shine.
“We’ll have a lot of new faces out there this year, so we’ll have to figure ourselves out a bit in the early part of the season,” said Schwab.
