Five is the lucky number this year for the Hilldale Hornet wrestling team. The program, now in its fifth year of existence under coach Daniel Llamas, qualified five wrestlers, including the first-ever Hornet female wrestler, for this year’s state wrestling tournament this weekend at the Big House in Oklahoma City.
The qualifiers, as shown in the attached photo, are junior Gary Fox at 113 pounds; senior Nathan Stroble at 165 pounds; sophomore Desi Grandstaff at 145 pounds; sophomore Coltyn Majors at 138 pounds and senior Brayden Tomlinson at 190 pounds.
All wrestlers except Fox placed fourth in the regional tournament and Fox placed fifth. These are the first wrestlers to make the state tournament from Hilldale since the first year when one wrestler qualified.
